St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church of Dearborn became a parish in July 2013, formed from St. Martha and St. Joseph Churches. St. Kateri Parish was borne out of the request of the Archdiocese of Detroit by first clustering the 2 parishes and then merging them as one.
St. Kateri is founded by two strong, thriving and dedicated parishes. The successful merging of St. Martha and St. Joseph proved to be a faithful challenge for all. During the merger, sensitivity was kept closely in mind and heart towards the St. Martha campus that was closed as a result, while the remaining campus of St. Joseph became the main site for the newly named St. Kateri Parish.
We hope to continue the legacy of both founding parishes, remembering our histories and look forward to creating a new chapter of faith and love for our community and God.
In conjunction with our fellow Family of Parishes: St. Alphonsus/St. Clement, St. Barbara/St. Cunegunda and St. Maria Goretti Church, we strive to focus on the 7 Pastoral Priorities:
