FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK by Fr. Terry Kerner
I want to thank all who sent greetings and gifts for my eightieth birthday. Your well wishes made this milestone day more “tolerable” than I had imagined it might be. Actually, I am quite proud to have turned eighty and even happier to realize that I’ve made it for so long. I never thought that I might reach that special number. Birthday greetings to all my fellow eighty-year-olds!Our weeklong exhibition of the Vatican approved Eucharistic miracles compiled by recently canonized St. Carlo Acutis was a special time for our parish and community. Visitors from neighboring parishes visited many for the first time coming to St. Kateri. We can be especially proud that we hosted St. Anselm School students on Tuesday. They are a wonderful group of young people and almost as “holy” as St. Carlo. The exhibition concluded on Sunday, October 12th – Carlo’s feast day. Over one hundred folks enjoyed an Italian dinner with their freewill offering raising over $2,000 for the Lennon Center. Thank you to the Knights of Columbus for doing all the “heavy lifting” and their great support!
Please mark your calendars for the St. Vincent de Paul truck to be available at St. Kateri on the weekend of November 1 and 2 for donations of slightly used clothing and small appliances. That same weekend on Sunday at the 11 am Mass we will remember all the souls of the faithful departed from the past year. On Friday, November 14th we will be conducting another blood drive. Stay tuned for more information. Our annual Harvest Dinner will be on Saturday, November 22. Thanks to your generosity to this year’s CSA we can make some changes in front of the parish office. The high evergreens, which presented a security concern, all have been removed. The walkway leading to the office will be widened and the porch will be enlarged to accommodate safer movement for the handicapped. Moderate landscaping will be done in the Spring. Know that your participation in parish life and generosity to the Church is very much appreciated.Blessings on your week!
