From the Pastor’s Desk

By Fr. Terry Kerner

Abortion is a burning hot topic right now. Probably it has always been under the radar though still a critical moral issue of our times. The protests and marches of the past few weeks do little to put into focus what the Supreme Court’s leaked draft opinion says. Unfairly the media and militant pro-choice advocates do not care to address what the draft is really speaking to. How we talk about things using the correct facts and information makes a world of difference and changes the entire narrative. Some helpful tools for understanding the draft opinion can be found by going to SupremeCourtVictory.com.

Any advocacy a person takes on should always be grounded in prayer. Pro-Life efforts are no exception. Mother Theresa once said: “The greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion.” The converse of this is protecting the unborn and their mothers. The Blessed Mother would be someone to pray to and within this month of May. Going to ProLifePrayers.com will give you a wide variety of prayers for these intentions.

I want to thank all of you who have already made your pledge and contribution to the annual Catholic Services Appeal (CSA). Once again folks are responding timely and generously. St. Kateri has one of the highest participation rates in the entire Archdiocese. But this should not come as a surprise since parishioners have always been gracious in recognizing needs in our parish and community as well as the Archdiocese. As of this past Monday we are at 44% of our goal with 89 donations. Again, THANK YOU for your support and to those who will be donating in the weeks ahead, let me quote Solanus Casey who was fond of saying: “Let me thank you ahead of time”.

Have an enjoyable month of May!
