From the Pastor’s Desk by Fr. Terry Kerner,

Next weekend, at all masses, Rev. Raju Pilla will be speaking about the works and the needs of the Latin Archdiocese of Trivandrum in India. Trivandrum has about 2,700,000 Catholics. 90% of the people belong to fishermen community, majority of whom depends on fishing for their livelihood. 10% are farm workers who are recent converts from low caste Hindus. Unemployment and poverty are most rampant in the communities. The archdiocese depends on outside contributions to support its clergy, seminarians, catechists, and the humanitarian projects of the homes for the orphans, aged and destitute, which provide food, shelter, health care, and education. In 2021, Hurricane “Tauktae” left hundreds of families homeless. Monsoon sea-erosion each year, destroys several homes of the fishermen who live near the sea and make a living from fishing. Thé archdiocese is yet to recover from the crippling effects of financial devastation caused by the pandemic lockdowns. We humbly request your generous contribution to the second collection. Your sacrifice for the Missions is deeply appreciated. May God bless you.

A letter to our Deacon:

Dear Deacon Leonard,

Your assignment to St. Kateri Tekakwitha, Dearborn will soon end on June 30, 2025. In conjunction with the way parishes have been placed into Families of Parishes, at the recommendation of the Deacon Missioning Team, I hereby appoint you to serve as Permanent Deacon for St. Kateri Tekakwitha, Dearborn in the South West Wayne Vicariate Family 3, under the care of the In Solidum Priests. This appointment is effective July 1, 2025, and will remain in effect until June 30, 2028.

Fr. Terrence Kerner, who is also the Family’s Moderator In Solidum, will be the one who will guide your diaconal ministry. Although my assignment of you is for St. Kateri, you are encouraged, as you are able, to help the other Priests In Solidum with care of the other Parishes within the Family of Parishes.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

The Most Reverend Edward J. Weisenburger
