I hope everyone celebrated a healthy and safe Fourth of July weekend. Summer always seems to almost disappear after this holiday and before we know it, we are looking at Labor Day. To enjoy this season, one really has to concentrate on enjoying our summer days and taking time to rest and relax. Hopefully, everyone can.
St. Alphonsus – St. Clement this past week has welcomed their new priest, Fr. Michael Nkachuwu. Father served several years on the eastside of Detroit at St. Raymond, Our Lady of Good Counsel and St. Jude parishes. He is looking forward to slowing down and enjoying serving the sacramental and spiritual needs of his new parish as well as assisting with the needs of his new Family of Parishes (St. Barbara, St. Kateri, and St. Maria Goretti). Father enjoys several years of pastoral ministry and academic achievement. Fr. Nkachuwu is perfectly comfortable being addressed as “Fr. Michael”. I have been asked to continue as Administrator of St. Alphonsus – St. Clement and Moderator for the Family of Parishes.
I am happy to report that at the end of our parish’s fiscal year this June we are “in the black”. Thanks to our many generous parishioners we have continued our successful stewardship. St. Kateri over the past twelve months has been very supportive, not only of our own parish, but also of the Food Pantry at St. Maria Goretti and St. Vincent de Paul work at St. Alphonsus – St. Clement. I want to thank all of you for helping with all our charitable work.
For your calendar you might note the Blood Drive scheduled for Friday, August 15th. You will be hearing more about the Drive in the weeks ahead. Meanwhile, enrich your blood with plenty of fruits and veggies!
Have a great summer!
