FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK by Fr. Terry Kerner

As announced last weekend our parish will be contributing ten percent of our Christmas collection to the St. Maria Goretti Food Pantry. As a parish we have been very generous with our weekly delivery of canned food items and other pantry items. At the same time, we realize that we have been very blessed with donations and offertory contributions. Our healthy financial position is because of parishioners and visitors giving generously the very best they can. (I have always believed that God cannot be outdone in generosity!) The Food Pantry distributes not only food but helps with many other items that folks might need. Single parents especially can use help with paper and baby products. Cash is needed in these instances. To that end and in thanksgiving for our own blessings, St. Kateri will be giving TEN PERCENT of our CHRISTMAS COLLECTION to the work of the Food Pantry. Contributions at Christmas are not taxed by the archdiocese and all of it remains in the parish. Christmas offerings should be marked “Christmas”. Bless your kindness!

This Monday, December 8th is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception —the Patroness of the United States. Though Mass this year is not obligatory, a Noon liturgy will be celebrated as well as a 6:00 pm Mass with the Family Faith participants. All are invited to pray and celebrate this mass. The liturgy will conclude with the blessing of the new Blessed Mother and Christ Child statue that will be installed at our Marian shrine behind church. You are welcome to attend and participate.

Have a joyful Advent.
