From the Pastor’s Desk

By Fr. Terry Kerner

Summer is going way too fast and the weather some days is cheating us out of opportunities to enjoy the season. Hopefully everyone is watching out for one another and checking on the health and well-being of family and friends. It’s the thing to do! Another sign of “time flying by” is the Feast of the Assumption of Mary. This year it falls on Monday and therefore Mass attendance is not obligatory. However, St. Kateri will celebrate a liturgy in honor of Mary at Noon on Monday, August fifteenth. All are welcome.

Please note that last week’s scheduled resealing and striping of the church parking lot was cancelled because of rain. This coming Thursday, August 18th is our make up day and therefore there will be no mass and the office will be closed. Mass intentions for that day will transfer to the Friday Mass. Thank you for your understanding.

St. Kateri continues to be generous. Last week I received a note from the superior of Fr. Polycarp the missionary with us last weekend. It reads:

“l wish to sincerely thank you on behalf of my Bishop and Diocese of Maiduguri for the opportunity you gave us to come and make appeals in your parish. Thank you also for the support and assistance you gave Fr. Polycarp during the course of his visit in your parish. May God reward and bless you and your parishioners forever.”

Yours in Christ, Fr. Emmanuel Finbarr

The note was written before we counted the collection for Father. Little did he know that the parishioners of St. Kateri would be sending him a check for $4,965 to assist his work in Nigeria.

Catholic Service Appeal (CSA) drive isn’t too shabby either. As of 8/8/22 forty-two percent of our parish has pledged $60,465. Of course, any amount offered now stays in the parish for capital improvements. THANK YOU to all who have contributed to the CSA and Fr. Polycarp.
