From the Pastor’s Desk by Fr. Terry Kerner
In the depths of Winter it is always comforting to look forward to the warming days of Spring. Our anticipation for better weather days ahead can be enjoyed with several eventful activities for our parish. We can look forward to a Polish Dinner on Saturday, February 14th. Tickets will be on sale in the days ahead and available in the Gift Shop and parish office.
Lent begins the following week with Ash Wednesday. On the first weekend of Lent, we will be hosting the Capuchins with their Blessed Solanus Casey Traveling Museum. The weekend involves talks, exhibits, banners and relics along with the opportunity to place an order for your Easter baked goods from their acclaimed On the Rise Bakery.
Lent may seem to be a long period of time but with the arrival of Holy Week at the end of March we will be wondering where all the time went preparing for Easter. Of course, our annual Pancake Breakfast will be served Palm Sunday.
Palm Sunday inaugurates the holiest time of the year for Christians. The drama of Holy Thursday and Good Friday is only eclipsed by the beauty and solemnity of Holy Saturday and the welcoming of adults into the Church.
With only a few weeks before winter ends and Spring begins, let us enjoy such trivial pursuits as the Super Bowl and March Madness!
