This week will be busy! This Sunday we celebrate Gaudate Sunday, a time to rejoice in anticipation of Christmas. For our Jewish brothers and sisters, the eight-day celebration of Hanukkah begins. Now more than ever, we should appreciate our guarantee of freedom of religion and the multiple ways Americans celebrate their faith. May we never take it for granted.
This Monday the students and parents in the Family Live Formation program will celebrate their last class prior to Christmas. Carols will be sung, the birth of our Savior proclaimed, and the story of the Night Before Christmas told. After the children visit the Santa Bears and find their gift they will share in the traditional Christmas cookies. Hopefully all our families will attend Mass over the Holidays & remember what the season is all about. The Family Formation resumes again in February.
On Saturday, December 20 at 11am we will have our Advent Communal Penance service at St. Kateri. Everyone is invited to attend but only if you are a sinner.
The same weekend parishioners will be asked to deliver poinsettia to our special parishioners who are ninety and older. Currently we have fifty-one registered with us. This is a wonderful way for folks to celebrate the meaning and the joy of Christmas. Consider doing this.
Of course, all our activities only lead up to Christmas and its meaning for us. Take time to plan with loved ones the masses you will be attending over the Holidays. Please note the Liturgies scheduled:
Christmas Eve: Masses at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm Christmas Day: Mass at 10:00 am
New Year Eve: Mass at 4:00 pm. New Year Day: Mass at 10:00.
We hope to see all of you in the days ahead. Don’t forget to wish the Santa Bears a Merry Christmas while you are here!
