From the Pastor’s Desk by Fr. Terry Kerner,
This weekend we will hear from Chris Jaskowiec ordained last Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral by Archbishop Vigneron. As you know, Chris has done his internship at St. Kateri for several months learning what a Deacon DOES. More importantly, Chris has learned WHO a Deacon is! He has been mentored in his ministry by our Deacon Tom Leonard. Tom’s example of the invaluable service of bringing the Eucharist to the elderly and homebound has won their love and appreciation. Tom’s working with adults seeking Baptism and the Sacraments has shown his knowledge of our living Faith. Tom’s sincere prayer and spiritual guidance has brought hope and consolation for many. Tom’s patience training young servers and old pastors is envied. Deacon Chris, zealously pursue what a Deacon DOES but more importantly, know WHO a Deacon is. Look to Deacon Tom as an example, a man of God who loves his people. God’s blessings on your ministry Deacon Chris!
The Knight of Columbus are here after the Masses to invite men, eighteen and older, to become members. In a day when society longs for signs of hope and service, the Knights provide such leadership. K of C members will be in church after Mass to answer any questions you might have. We heartily endorse men to consider looking into joining the fraternity of your Catholic brothers.
I want to thank all who offered best wishes on my birthday last week. Turning 79 isn’t so bad when you know you have so many folks cheering!
On a final note, our annual pet blessing is this Sunday, October 6tn at 12:30 behind the Parish Center. Deacon Tom will bless our menagerie of pets. I am sure “Fluffy” and “Fido” are looking forward to the outing.
Go Lions!
