From the Pastor’s Desk by Fr. Terry Kerner,
With May comes some beautiful events. One of the most celebrated in any parish is First Communion. St. Kateri schedules children their own special weekend and mass time. You can look forward to seeing these young parishioners on the following dates and times:
Jillian Mruzik on May 5 at 11 am,
Angel Diaz & Carolina Rojus on May 18 at 4pm,
and Savior Borg on May 19 at 11am.
All parishioners are welcome to attend these regularly scheduled masses and support the children with your prayers. Next time you see them offer your congratulations! (You will recognize them by their haloes.)
In the next few days, you will be receiving your CSA request for support of Archdiocesan ministries. It is an important annual drive that benefits thousands of people. Our own parish benefits each year when we exceed our target and can apply the extra cash for parish projects. This year I would hope that we can be extra generous since it appears that the air-conditioning for the church is on its “last leg” as the saying goes. Replacement will be costly and will need everyone’s best support when we learn more about the project.
Mother’s Day is May 12th and Father’s Day is June 16th. Special days for all of us. Many of us have lost our parents over the years and cannot celebrate the way we used to with them. It has been suggested that between the two dates we have a “Parents Day” when we remember them with a Sunday afternoon dinner at St. Kateri. It might also be an opportunity to take a parent to dinner with fellow parishioners. The meal would be catered and reserved by ticket. Let us know if you might be interested. If there is enough interest, we will pursue the idea.
(Your mother would be proud of you!)
Enjoy May and all the Spring days!
