FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
by Father Terry Kerner
This Sunday our Confirmation Class will have a rehearsal for their Confirmation Mass with Bishop Monforton. Next Sunday at the 11:00 am Mass three candidates from St. Kateri as well as three from St. Maria Goretti will celebrate being trusted with the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. As Moderator for our Family of Parishes I was given the privilege of interviewing each as to their readiness for the sacrament. I am happy to report that they are! We are blessed to share our faith with these young Catholics and hope to seem them exercising liturgical ministries in the future.

Good news, our new air conditioning is scheduled for installation this coming week. I thank everyone for their patience. Though heat and humidity this summer has been tolerable for much of the summer, it’s good to know we have a new system in place. Thank you for all your support.

Also on Thursday, September 12th our parish prayer group will resume weekly Thursday sessions from 3:00 – 4:30 pm. The prayer group is open to all parishioners and others who appreciate the opportunity for a small and unique worship experience. The group is entitled “Community of God’s Mercy” and meets in the St. Michael Room at the gathering space. Please use the south entry and park in the rear parking lot.

The Faith Program for our Family of Parishes begins on Monday, September Parents and students K- 8 are required to meet at St. Kateri at 5:30 pm for Orientation and Registration. The classes begin on October seventh and serves our parishes of St. Alphonsus & St. Clement, St. Kateri, and St. Maria Goretti. For information contact the Parish Office. Adult Faith Formation for converts and folks needing their sacraments begins on October seventh also at 5:30 pm. Families who have been inactive Catholics for whatever reason are welcome – no questions asked!

St. Vincent de Paul will be at St. Kateri on the weekend of October 26-27 to collect clothing and shoes. Going through those closets and drawers and discovering unused and not needed items can be a blessing for some folks who DO need and WILL use them. Start discovering all the “stuff” you have forgotten you have!

Mark your calendar for our annual Harvest Dinner at St. Kateri. The date is November 17 at 5:00 pm. We are also looking into a date for a Family of Parishes Blood Drive after Thanksgiving. We will keep you posted.

Enjoy the week and the upcoming magic change of colors!
